Come Home
Born 1990, M, from Mt. Cory, United StatesI see the distant landscape
and surging creek below
Two sparrows sit beside me
Their freedom I don't know
The rumble of a distant train
echoes in the glen
Hurriedly I settle down
with notebook and a pen
I write of wonders far and near
Draw pictures of the view
The sun is setting in the west
An orange and firey hue
I scamper down the ladder
From my treehouse I do climb
Across the field I hear my mom
'Come home, it's supper time!'
My hair now gray, my eyes are dim
but memories remain
Adventures of my childhood
... small gifts that I retain
