It was 2002, when I was 15 yrs old and my friend Jessica Kelly was 15yrs old, but a month younger than me, we were heading home from school and, since she got in a big fight with her family she changed her number, switched schools (we weren't in the same school since 5th grade), and ran away, losing touch with her family, and now she is living with me in my apartment. On our way to the apartment we walked past a wooded area like normal but the air felt heavier than usual, so we kept walking while being cautious of our surroundings. About 5 minutes later we heard a scream from in the woods. It was a scream so big that the next 2 minutes were dead silent except for the sound of cars driving by or slowing down and even parking on the side of the road looking into the woods. Jessica and I stood there with our hands over our mouths in silence. We started for the woods. When we got to the area where we heard the scream, there was a blood trail. Beginning of the blood trail was a severed head of a young woman and the blood trail ending in front of the tree. Jessica looked up and I was looking at the blood trail, until Jessica pulled on the sleeve of my coat and pointed up. When I looked up I saw a headless corpse hung on a branch through her stomach. Our eyes filled with tears and fear and we were so scared that we couldn't scream. 2 minutes later we heard the crumbling of leaves. We looked around to see if anybody was there, but there was nothing but trees. I told Jessica that we should go and tell the police but she didn't move. I asked her if she was ok and if she saw anything but she stood there, tears streaming down her face, and silent.
I looked in her direction and looked closely. I saw a figure. It was tall, thin, and pale as white with arms hanging to the ground. I was terrified. I grabbed Jessica's wrist and ran as fast as I could. When we got out of the woods, I let go of Jessica and we collapsed to our knees in tears. We got up and walked home, terrified.
What was that creature, I wondered. I tried so hard to forget about it, but it haunts me. Even now! The next day we were heading to school and as always she was silent and never had friends except for me. I was the ONLY one she talked to ever! And she asked if we could do some research and go back to the scene and take pictures and I agreed, which was the worst mistake I ever made. After school, we headed towards the scene and found no head, blood, or body. It was as if it never happened, until I spotted a piece of paper on the ground and Jessica picked it up. It was a big circle with a chaotic X in the middle bursting from the circle. It was drawn is something red. Jessica smelt something strange and smelt the paper. It smelt like blood. She touched it and it was warm and fresh. She almost screamed but I covered her mouth. Because I heard a noise. Something caught the corner of my eye and I looked closely where I saw it. Standing there only 5 ft away, was the tall, thin, and pale creature we saw the other day. We stood there for 6 minutes staring at it, and it tilted it head side to side every minute or 2, until it reached its hand out. It's fingers were long, boney, and it's fingertips were sharp like claws. I stepped back a few steps and fell backwards on my back, but Jessica walked towards it like it was controlling her. The creature touched her face for a second. It paused when she whimpered in fear, then it grabbed her by the neck and picked her up. She struggled and her nose started to bleed. The creature grabbed her waist with the other hand and bent her backwards. All u could here was her struggle to scream and cry and the sound of her spine turning from popping to snapping in half. When her shirt lifted a bit from being bent you could see her skin ripping and blood pouring. It's hand let go and she hung there dead and pouring blood from her stomach and mouth. Then the bottom half of her gave out and fell to the ground in the blood puddle, and the creature held the other half by the bloody neck. When I got up I fell back to my knees and threw up to the sight of blood and guts falling from the upper part of Jessica. I finally got up to see that the creature was gone, and so was, my childhood friend, Jessica. But the scene where Jessica was brutally murdered was gone. No remains ,nor blood was to be traced or found. I ran home crying and for the next 2 weeks I never showed up for school. When 2 weeks passed I went to school again and every day since I started school after the 2 weeks ppl asked me what happened and where Jessica was, I said I was sick and that Jessica moved back to her family and transferred back to her old school, but I knew it was a lie because, Jessica was dead. She was killed right in from of my eyes. Now when I walk passed the woods it felt normal. No heavy feeling or anything. It was normal like nothing happened. I never reported to the police of her murder because it would be useless since there wasn't any evidence or remains of the blood or body not even footprints. Days have passed and I still haven't forgotten the tragedy. It was never reported either and during those days I heard that her mom and dad died because of my grandma being friends with her grandma. Then Jessica's grandma died a month after. The parents died of a car accident and Jessica's grandma died of old age. So nobody suspected her disappearance because I lied so many times that I lost count. I keep Jessica's phone turned off and put up in a box of memories I kept of me and her. I cried every day and I was silent for along time until had to get over the fact that she is gone but never forget about Jessica herself. I made new friends, but they could never replace the bonding friendship of my childhood friend Jessica Kelly.
