The Stolen Motherhood
Tears rolled down her cheeks at the sight of the empty bed and accessories of her deceased 8 year old son. Gita could not relieve herself out of her plundered fate that wiped whole happiness out of her life.
She was envied by everyone in her friend circle and family community for her happy family life and the motherhood she possessed with Advaith , her son. She was an amazing homemaker and a fantabulous mother. Life was all rosy and cheesy until past six months, where a car accident flew Gita’s dreams and joy to debris. Gita and her husband survived the accident, but fate stole her motherhood. She could not portray herself without her son. Her son was the fire and shine of her life which was blown in the thunder storm. None had words to comfort Gita’s weeping heart, not even Gautham , her husband.
Gita is still battling each moment of her life crawling painfully to meet her existence in life even six months after the demise of Advaith. After Gautham goes to office, she is left alone in the world of killing solitude, all memories of Advaith passes through Gita’s mind, his innocent smiles and mischievous looks flashes through her eyes. Hugging his toys and accessories, spenting every second inside Advaith’s room was making her life even more demonful. But she couldn’t switch her mind out of his memories. Her mind was so much taxed with her son’s unexpected parting that she decided to leave the life where her son had no place for. She searched across the scattered medicines in the tablet box and grabbed a bottle of sleeping pills with her shivering hands. She took a handful of pills and just before she was to gobble up the pills, there rang the calling bell, that too many a times spontaneously pointing to an emergency call.
Gita closed the pills tight in her fist and opened the door. It was Ramu ,her driver who panickly explained that Malini, her maid passed away and asked Gita to come to Malini’s home immediately. Gita suddenly ran to Malini’s home with her fastened fist of pills. The image of Malini and her son flashed through her mind , Malini was with her more than a decade. Malini’s son ,Siddhu always used to be a good company to Advaith who also was of his same age.It was so much shocking to her that Malini was a cancer patient and she had never disclosed it to anyone. Siddhu ran to Gita, hugged her tightly on her legs and cried miserably saying “See Memsaabh ! my mother left me,I had no one other than my mother.I don’t want to live anymore,I have no one”.
The innocent yells of Siddhu opened Gita’s motherhood unfastening her fist, dropping the pills down. She patted on Siddhu’s hair, kissed his forehead ,hugged him tight to her heart flashing a meaningful smile at him and figured out how life opens a door once it shuts down the other.
