The sound of my small feet hitting the hard ground, my ragged breath escaping in small gasps, my heart pounding so hard it felt like it was going to burst out of my chest, but I didn't have time to think about any of that. I was running, running as fast as I could, trying to get away. I pulled, pushed and grabbed at anything that got in my way, I couldn't slow down now, not when they were so close. A branch sliced through my arm as I made a sharp turn to the right. I could feel the warm blood trickle down my forearm. I looked at it, although just a blurry haze, I could see the crimson liquid soak through the cloth of my grey jacket. The hole that the branch had torn allowed me to see the cut that sliced deep into my skin. I shouldn't have looked at the torn flesh because when I wasn't looking my foot had became tangled. The vine intertwined with my foot but I didn't realise until it was too late. Before I knew what was happening I was falling onto the hard, leaf strewen, forest floor. I pulled my leg free and tried to stand up but a pain shot through my ankle and I immediately fell to the ground again.
Tears streaked down my grimy face clearing a path through the layers of dirt and mud I had let accumulate there. I lay there, waiting for them to come for me. There was no point running, even without my snapped ankle I wouldn't have been able to run forever.
I thought I was ready for them to find me but when they did, I relised I wasn't ready to let go. I looked up into one of their faces, I looked into his cold, unforgiving deep blue eyes that were full of hatred. As he lifted his blade to strike me I knew that I had lost and they had won. I closed my eyes, waiting for the impact. I knew it was going to be over soon. I felt something cold touch my skin and my body fell into total darkness, into oblivian. It was all over now.
