One bright sunny day as I went for my daily scroll along Oxford road, I saw a envelope that had my name on it. I opened it in confusion. It said; 'give this $100 dollar note to someone. You cannot keep it. Give it to someone and tell them what to do with the money'. I was amazed and stunned. As I was completing my walk I thought of who to give the money to. I kept thinking why did I have to give the money away, and couldn't keep it.
I had a mate named Mack he had a smoking addiction, and now he is broke. Recently, he has quit smoking and is trying to recover. I had another mate, Nathan; well not really a mate I would see him on the ground and I would talk to him and that's it not really a friend but he could do with a $100. He looks pretty homeless. I had so many thoughts running through my mind. I went home flicked on the T.V and starred at a Simpsons episode.
In the next hour I got a call it was a private number but in the phone call a deep voice said “ have you found a person or charity to give the money too, because at the end of the week you have to choose or you lose the money”.
I was a bit lost for words but I couldn't go past my loving mother. She didn't really need the money as Mack and my homeless mate did. I had all these names rushing through my mind I wondered who needed it the most, I really didn't know who to give it to, but I knew someone needed it but I just couldn't find them I'm not sure if that's my bad luck or the person who really needs the money.
I was really doubting every decision that day. For a second I thought to myself if I don't choose the person correctly my life is ruined. I tried to put it behind myself and I tried to solider on. Finally, chose and I gave it to my mum and I told her to use it to buy medicine or for personal use.
I had hoped that I had done the right thing for me and my lovely mother. Friends are friends they disappear sometimes and are visible sometimes, but family is visible no matter what. My mum's been there through all the ups and downs.
I told my friend Mack that I had a choice to give away $100 note to anyone I want and he mumbled “if you didn't give it to me who did you give it to idiot” I said “ my mother” he then said “ oh ok that's fair enough”. My mum called me multiple times and thanked me. I told her that I did not do it to get a thank you I did it because I love her.
I knew I had done the right thing and I was happy about my choice.
