The Wishing Pond

Verity's mother had asked her to go to a minimarket to buy some food and drinks. So, Verity decided to go to the nearest minimarket available. After she bought the food and drinks, Verity walked home. As she walked home, Verity saw a small fountain with a pond. It was full of coins. Verity thought of taking some of those coins. As she dips her hand into the coin-filled fountain pond, a woman saw her and said, "Young girl, what are you doing?". Verity was shocked and she froze. "Don't you know, that this fountain pond is called 'The Wishing Pond'? People throw their coins here while saying their wishes, hoping that it will come true. If the coins are taken away, their wishes are taken away as well." The woman explained. Verity then quickly got her hands out of the fountain pond. She then walked home as she was bowing her head.
