In the Boyack manor, there lived the Boyack noble family. They consist of Earl Delbert Boyack, Countess Henrika Boyack, and their 12-year-old daughter Countess Vivian Boyack. Their servants consist of Eduard the butler, Nero the gardener, Kunstler the chef, Julchen the maid, Romano the footman, and Soren the house steward.
Vivian Boyack is actually very pretty. She has brown hair, green eyes, and white skin. Because of her beauty, her father engaged her to Earl Felix Montserrat, the son of Earl Boyack's close friend, Earl Jurgen Montserrat. But, Vivian was a rude spoiled brat. She always treats others harshly, whether it's her servants or even other people. She always yell at others.
"EDUARD! I WANT APPLE PIE AND MELON JUICE! BRING IT HERE! NOW!" Vivian yelled at her butler. "Y-yes, ma'am.." Eduard replied, trembling. He ran to the kitchen to ask Kunstler to make apple pie and melon juice for Vivian.
Vivian was drawing when she heard a knock on the door. The young countess ran to the door and opened it. It was Eduard. "H-here's y-your apple p-pie and melon j-juice, ma'am," Eduard stuttered handing the food and drink to Vivian. Vivian quickly accepted it, without even saying 'thank you'.
"JULCHEN! THE MELON JUICE STAINED MY CHAIR! CLEAN IT UP! NOW!" Vivian yelled to her maid. Julchen, who was sweeping the floor downstairs, quickly ran to her mistress' room, bringing cleaning cloth with her. "WHAT TOOK YOU SO LONG? CLEAN IT UP NOW! MY CHAIR IS DIRTY!" Vivian yelled. "Y-yes, ma-am.." Julchen said, trembling. Still trembling, Julchen cleaned up Vivian's chair.
That was only a little part of Vivian's rude treatment to her servants. But, a life-changing event happened to her on this sunny Monday.
Vivian was walking around the park. She saw something strange there. She saw a young girl her age, with short red hair and bright blue eyes, greeting and giving brown boxes to people who pass by. The girl was wearing a red shirt and a white skirt. Vivian was curious who this girl was. So, she approached her.
"Who are you?" Vivian asked to the strange girl. "I'm Cwenhild," she replied. "Cwenhild? Your full name please?" Vivian asked again. "I don't have a full name, miss. I'm just Cwenhild. How about you?" Cwenhild replied. "I'm Countess Vivian Boyack," Vivian answered pridefully. "Oh, so you're a countess?" Cwenhild asked. "Sure. What's your job and why do you have to greet people and give those brown boxes to them?" Vivian replied. "My job is spreading kindness. I want to treat people nicely so they'll feel worth it. Inside the box, there is a blessing and a curse. The blessing will be upon those who treat others nicely, and the curse will be upon those who treat others badly." Cwenhild explained.
"Oh..." Vivian said, bowing her head. "Bye Cwenhild. Gotta go," Vivian said again, while running back to the manor and waving to Cwenhild. Cwenhild waved back.
Back at the manor, Vivian thought about her encounter with Cwenhild. She felt something weird inside her. Suddenly, Vivian said, "I want to change the way I treat others." And she did.
"Eduard, I'd like some pancake with maple syrup. Will you please bring it here?" Vivian asked her butler, not yelling anymore, but with an angel-soft voice. Eduard was confused, what has happened to his mistress. But now he's not afraid of her anymore. "Yes, ma'am!" He replied, not trembling anymore. After that, Eduard quickly ran to the kitchen to ask Kunstler to make pancake with maple syrup for Vivian.
Vivian heard a knock on her door. She opened it. It was Eduard. "Here's your pancake with maple syrup, ma'am," he said, handing the pancake with maple syrup to Vivian. He's not stuttering anymore. "Thank you, Eduard!" Vivian said, smiling. Eduard was even more confused.
"Julchen, I spilled water on the floor. Will you please clean it up?" Vivian asked her maid. Julchen was confused, why Vivian is not yelling at her anymore. "Yes, ma'am!" Julchen said. She's not tembling anymore.
All of the Boyack household servants were confused about Vivian's change in attitude. So, one day, Julchen dared herself to ask her mistress about what happened.
"Ma'am, before, you were always yelling at us, and treating us rudely. But now no more. What happened?" Julchen asked, her heart racing wildly. Hearing the question, Vivian smiled and told her about Cwenhild.
Cwenhild's story spread quickly around the Boyack household. Until one day, Earl Boyack ordered his servants to find Cwenhild because he want to award her. But, even though the servants have searched everywhere, Cwenhild was nowhere to be found. However, Vivian's attitude remained the same as when she first met Cwenhild, and she kept on treating others nicely.
Years passed. Now, Vivian was married to Earl Felix Montserrat and became Countess Montserrat. They had a daughter together. Her name was Countess Cwenhild Montserrat, in honor of Cwenhild, the girl who changed her mother's life. Cwenhild Montserrat's parents taught her to be a girl who treats others nicely, and to spread kindness to others. So, the Montserrats lived as a happy family.
