Favorite Cartoon Character(Alice Dubes) "Students, for today's art lesson, you will draw your favorite cartoon character. You can only draw one cartoon character on your drawing paper. Now, you may start drawing." Miss Debs, the art teacher, said.

For sure, the students are excited. "I'm gonna draw Hello Kitty! What will you draw, guys?" Said Joycelin Henn excitedly. "I'll draw Madeline," said Brania. "I'm drawing Dora the Explorer," said Aspasia. "If me, I'm going to draw my favorite cartoon character for ever and ever, Helga Pataki," said Odette. Others gave unpleasant stares at her. "I think I'll draw Winnie the Pooh," said Verity. "I'll draw Moomin," said Gilbert. "I'm drawing Minion," said Antonio. "I'm going to draw Smurf," said Louise.

"What about you, Svea and Graciela? What will you draw?" Joycelin asked Svea Torsten and Graciela Yataco, the remaining students that haven't said anything about their drawing. "I'm drawing Sailor Moon. She's my favorite cartoon character because her personality suits mine - she's carefree and cheerful when at ease but quickly serious and strategic-minded when fighting." Svea replied. "Oh. What about you, Graciela?" Joycelin asked again. "I don't know, I'm confused," Graciela replied. "Just think about your favorite cartoon character." Joycelin said.

"Help me, Svea! I'm very confused about what should I draw!" Said Graciela. "Hmm, let's see. Just think about a cartoon character whose personality suits you." Said Svea. Graciela thought for a while, and suddenly she said, "Oh! Now I get it!" "Who will you draw then?" Svea asked. "Elsa. Her personality suits mine very well. She's gradually depicted as sympathetic and misunderstood, and she struggles first with controlling and concealing her abilities and then with liberating herself from her fears of unintentionally harming others, just like me!" Graciela explained. Svea smiled. "I'm glad you finally found your favorite cartoon character," she said. "Now you may start drawing." Graciela then started drawing.

"Okay students! Time's up! Now submit your drawings!" Said Miss Debs. "I'm not yet done, Miss!" Odette groaned. "Done or not, submit it." Miss Debs replied. Every student, including Svea and Graciela, submitted their drawings.

After Miss Debs checked the drawings, she announced the scores. "Brania, Gilbert, Antonio, Verity, Louise, Svea got A's! Joycelin and Aspasia got B's. Odette got a C. But Graciela got an A+! Give handclaps for her!" Miss Debs announced. Everybody clapped their hands for Graciela.

Graciela was extremely happy. "Well, first of all, I'd like to thank my best friend Svea Torsten. She was the one who gave me the inspiration of what to draw. If it weren't for her, I'd draw nothing," she said. Svea smiled.

"Well, since you have the best drawing, Graciela, would you mind if I put your drawing on the school bulletin?" Miss Debs asked. Graciela nodded.

The next day, when Graciela passed the school bulletin, she saw her own drawing of Elsa there. She smiled, and thought of Svea who gave her the inspiration. Then, she walked to her classroom.

So, whenever Graciela passed the school bulletin and saw her drawing, she always thought of Svea. "Thank you, Svea, for inspiring me to draw this," Graciela said in her heart.
