A TWIST

A TWIST

Rain drops doing a pit-pat on my raincoat, wind turning icy cold. It was the beginning of winter and I was walking down a street rubbing my hands to keep them warm. It was nine in the evening and I was heading home after shopping for my mom. I took out my favourite chocolate bar from my bag and started munching it loudly. The street was deserted and not a soul in sight. Suddenly I heard some ruffling in the bushes. I quickly turned around and found a pair of green eyes staring at me from the bushes. I froze, unable to move, but then breathed a sigh of relief when the green-eyed creature mewed and walked out of the bushes swinging it's tail. A cat. A black cat. A bad omen as some believe. I turned around and continued my walk controlling my imaginations which were turning wild due to the eeriness of the surroundings.

I sensed someone following me when I heard some faint footseps from behind. "Control", I told myself, "stop imagining too much". But then I forced myself to look around and found someone standing in the shadow of the buildings. A chill ran down my spine. I blinked several times, this time and realized it was a post box. Mumbling to myself about my stupidity I continued. All of a sudden someone patted me on my shoulder. It was a heavy hand. The grip grew strong. Shouting at the top of my voice, getting free of the grip, I started running like a wild horse. I did not look back till I reached the colony park. I stopped to take rest. I was breathing heavily. I looked at the colony park which had no signs of life at this time. I got shocked when I saw the swing in motion. There was not a trace of wind and still I could see it in motion. Suddenly two hands gripped both my shoulders. The same hands. The same feel. I turned around to receive the biggest shock of my life. In front of me stood .....
"NOOOOOO", I cried as my mother snatched the book away from me. "Can't you help me in my chores? get up and go to market and get me some vegetables", she ordered. "But I was in the most interesting part where..." She did not let me finish my sentence as she went out of the room with my book. Yeah it was a horror story book and I am hell crazy for these. Forgetting everything around me I get lost in each and every word of the story.

Me, Anna, 14 year old who hates to do household chores but was getting ready to go to the market as I cannot go against my mother's order. I would stay hungry this night if I did not set off for the market. Stepping out into the street I opened my umbrella. Torrential rains. Monsoon, my favourite season. Jumping over the puddles is my favourite thing which I do in this period. I had already jumped over 10 puddles. Tired I sat down on a sidewalk bench. Suddenly someone patted me. You know what follows :D
