Once there was a girl called Jade. She was at school when this happened. She really really wanted this book called “Rainforest Secrets”. It was very interesting. All her friends had one too.
“Hey Jade, where's your reading book?” asked her friend, Betty.
“I don’t have one yet, but I will, and I know that for sure,” Jade answered back.
She was waiting for the bell to ring, but it never did. Finally, it did and she raced out of the classroom, and went home sad. Her mum could see that she was so sad and asked her why it was that she was so sad.
She told her mum all about it. “Someone called Betty, you don’t know her, bullied me about the book I wanted,” Jade explained quietly.
“Oh no not that book again,” Mum sighed. “Why do you want it?”
“The book is interesting, useful, please!”
Jade knew that her mum would not give in and so she had a very dark thought…
Jade went to school with two thoughts in her head. One was a devil and the other was an angel. She saw the book in the shop for £29. “£29!” shouted Jade.
“Go on, buy it,” said the devil temptingly.
“Don’t listen to him. Come on do the right thing,” said the angel.
“Come on, all your friends have it. Get it. Get it,” suggested the devil.
“Just ask your mum. She will give it to you,” nagged the angel.
OK! OK! I will steal it, but how? asked Jade, and then she had an idea. She heard the bell ring for break time. She snuck out of the school and saw the book on the floor outside the main gates. “OMG!” shouted Jade. She thought, should I take it or should I leave it or should I just buy it from the shop. She wanted to take it but she couldn’t. The bell went to go back inside. Jade ran back into school. Her hands where shaking. She had so many thoughts going around in her head. Her legs were like jelly. When she was going back in, she saw the book on the floor. She took it without even thinking…
Jade was very very terrified, worried and frightened because she knew something she had done was wrong. She knew her mum could easily realise. Jade’s mum knew something was wrong with Jade’s face. “What’s wrong?” asked her mum.
“Nothing,” Jade replied. She still knew something was wrong. She regretted what she did but it was too late. However there was a new book that was on her shelf “What’s that new book on your shelf?” asked mum.
“Nothing,” Jade replied.
“Oh no mum is going to find out,” Jade sighed. Mum still knew something was not right.
“Oh fine, I found the book on the floor and took it,” Jade replied.
“Hhhh, how dare you steal someone’s book? Return it to the owner immediately,” shouted mum!
“But there was no name on it,” Jade moaned.
“Well find the owner then!” bellowed mum…
