Merlin and the PS3

By Philip
Born 2006, M, from Taipei, Taiwan
View Author Profile

One hot sunny day Merlin was walking home, when he saw the most coolest game in the world. So Merlin went home and asked his mum if he could have a PS3.
“But it’s no use,’ said Mum.

“But all my friends have one,” said Merlin

“But you will still not use it”

“Sure!” He ran into his room and slammed the door.

“But why do you want a PS3?”

“Because all my friends have it.”

“No it is just useless,” said mum.

“No it is not,” explained Merlin.

“Yes it is now go and wash your hands for dinner!”And after dinner it was time for bed. Then he had the darkest thought... he just had to get a PS3.
As he lay in bed he thought about his plan on how to get a PS3. He thought that maybe he could steal money from his mum and use it to buy the PS3. The next morning he woke up really early and took some money from his mum’s purse. His mum was not awake yet and so, it was easy to take the money without being seen. His hands were shaking and he started sweating as he was worried that his mum would wake up early and see him taking the money.
During breakfast, he started to think about whether he had done the right thing or not. He knew stealing was wrong, but he really wanted the PS3. Merlin thought about putting about the money back into his mum’s purse but he wanted the PS3 more.

After breakfast he went to school and during the first lesson he asked if he could go to the bathroom. But instead of going to the bathroom, he left the school and ran to the nearby game shop. He saw the PS3 and bought it with the money from his mum’s purse. Merlin knew he would be missed at school, so he ran back quickly to his classroom.

After school, Merlin took the bus home. During his bus journey, he opened his bag to look at his new PS3. He didn’t want to take it out because he didn’t want anyone to ask him how he got it.

When he got home, he ran into his room and hid the PS3 under his bed. His parents returned home from work, and whilst Merlin was eating his dinner, his mum started cleaning his room. Whilst in his room, his mum found the new PS3 under his bed. Merlin’s mum came out of the bedroom looking angry. Merlin panicked, he saw the PS3 in his mum’s hands.
“I…,”explained Merlin.

“What is this? Where did you get this from?” asked his mum.

Merlin felt bad, and replied, “I took the money from your purse.”

“When?”

“This morning, when you were still in bed.”

“I’m very disappointed with you.”

“I am so sorry.”

“Ok, but you will be punished. No lego for a month!”

During the month of no lego, Merlin thought about what he had done and knew that stealing was wrong. Merlin then decided that he would never steal again.
