The Diamond
Born 1995, M, from Kentucky, United StatesBy Joseph Logsdon
Rachel Anderson was a notorious thief. Nothing could stop her, not even the power of the police. After several years of breaking the law, Rachel finally decided to steal a precious diamond. Instead of doing the job herself, Rachel hired a professional thief. The man was, as far as she could tell, very competent. With any luck, he would be the right man for the risky job.
After stealing the diamond, the professional thief entered Rachel’s apartment. To his amazement, Rachel was sitting on the sofa, stroking her cat. As much as he tried to hide it, the thief was, indeed, attracted to his employer.
“So, did you succeed?”
“That depends, do you have the money?”
“That depends, do you have the diamond?”
“Even if I did have the diamond, I wouldn’t give it to you,” he replied.
“Jack, we had a deal, remember?”
“Well, this isn’t the first time that I’ve betrayed a client,” Jack stated.
“No one, least of all you, will betray me,” she hissed.
“If you want this thing, you’ll have to pay extra,” he stated.
“How much do you want?”
“I don’t want your money, I want you,” he demanded.
“You’re joking, right?”
“Do I look like I’m joking?”
“Even if you were the last man on earth, I would never sleep with you. Now, if you’re not going to give me the diamond, then I’ll have to take it from you.”
“I wouldn’t try it,” he replied.
“Just because I’m a woman, doesn’t mean that I can’t fight,” she exclaimed.
“Tell me, does bitchiness run in your family?”
“You’ve crossed the line,” she exclaimed.
“Come on, you know you want it,” he stated.
“Give me the diamond!”
“Well, it looks like you won’t be getting the diamond,” he replied.
“This is your last chance; give it to me!”
“I’m afraid not,” he replied.
“Give me the diamond!”
“If you want it, you’ll have to come get it,” he exclaimed.
Rachel, angry and out of patience, pulled out a gun. Not knowing what to do, Jack trembled as Rachel approached him.
“This isn’t about me, it’s about my legacy as a thief. If I don’t get that diamond, I’ll never go down in history. Now, for the last time, give me the diamond!”
“As you wish.”
Jack shook as he removed the diamond from his pocket. Before Rachel could say another word, Jack dropped the diamond. Suddenly and without warning, the cat consumed the diamond.
“No,” Rachel exclaimed.
“Well, that’s funny,” Jack stated.
“You’re a stupid, useless man!”
“Well, what are we going to do?”
“I can’t believe, that all this time, the cat wanted the diamond more than me,” she stated.
“So, what are we going to do, then?”
“With any luck, he’ll be on his way to the bathroom very soon,” she answered.
