A Night of Peace

(Note that the author was 16 years old when he wrote this story.)

Walking into the living room john found what he was looking for. Leaning over he pulled out an old newspaper that dated back to the 1980's. Feeling in no need to rush he sat down near the window that overlooked the ever busy city below. Wiping the sweat from his brow john opened the old newspaper and began reading an article that read A NIGHT OF PEACE BROUGHT TO AN END. Starting to read in a low tone so only he could him, Late tonight A Shooting occurred At 10:32. Police report one young women's death and a young man fatally wounded. Names are not yet know. Stopping for a moment john fought back the tears that were making their way to the surface. Looking down at the age wore paper john started where he left off. This time to himself. They were a young couple. On a date of some kind. police say it might have been friends that were the ones who shot them, over what we are not sure yet.... the friend or friends that have don’t this are still loose and may be armed... we advise people to take care to keep yourself and your kids safe.

After finishing the article john leaned over the old beat up chair and picked up a newspaper that dated a week after the last one. When he found the article he was looking for he started to read once again. Young man will live, but right will happen now. We have gotten word of the young women that as hurt us all with her death. Katie a junior in high school, and john both went to Franklin high… John will talk a little of the pain that came to him from this…. Written by Thomas Markin.

Leaning over john throw open a side door built into the table. Pulling out a small bundle he pulled out a small black box which contained the ring that he hoped would be on the finger of the women he loved. Shaking his head john slipped the ring into his pocket, and began to leave the old destroyed house. Walking into the busy city where he left all of the present his eyes caught the sight of a young women coming to him. “Katie what are you doing here baby?” I went to your house daddy and you were not home so I thought to come here. “is everything O.K? “ leaning over to kiss his daughter he spoke in a sober voice “ the only thing I wish was that your mother did not get shot.” He I have something for you. Taking her small hand john reached into his pocket and placed the small box in his daughters’ hand. I always hopped I gave that to the one I loved most in this world. Kissing her on the forehead one last time john began down the street, where Katie stopped him “Remember my weddings at seven daddy. I love!” taking him be the arm they both began down the street together....
