Spacepeeple go Fishing.
Born 1941, M, from Whitby, United KingdomSpacepeeple Go Fishing.
Once upon a time there was a little green spaceman called Desymond and he had a beautiful little pink spacelady wife called Mitzy. They had a lovely little spacebaby called Gurgle Goo.
They lived in Scarborough because Scarborough is best.
This particular day Gurgle Goo and Desymond were on the seashore watching the men and some ladies fishing. Gurgle Goo laughed out loud every time that a fish or a crab was caught. The little crabs would let go when they came out and run to get back into the sea.
"I'll take you astral fishing if you would like to go." said Desymond.
"Okey Dokey." said Gurgle Goo.
They went home to Mitzy and told her where they were going. She had just been watching the Astral Weather forecast on Staryvision.
"Ok, I'll hold tea until you get back-you might catch something. The forecast looks good for starpooning."said Mitzy.
So it was that Desymond and Gurgle Goo set off to the Black Hole to do some astral fishing. It did not take long in Desymond's spacecraft before they arrived at the Black Hole. The blue sky above Scarborough had turned violet, then purple, then black as Desymond and Gurgle Goo went up, up into space.
Desymond threw out the sky anchor then showed Gurgle Goo how to use the starpooner with the astral rod. He looked for a likely place in the Black Hole and they both sat back and watched the bright lights of the astral float as it swung this way and that on the space currents.
Gurgle Goo expected to catch something straight away but it took quite a long time. She was nearly dropping off to sleep when Desymond suddenly saw the astral float disappear.
"Quicketty, quicketty!" he shouted and Gurgle Goo was so surprised that she nearly fell out into space.
"Pull up on the astral rod and you will have him!" shouted Desymond in excitement.
So Gurgle Goo did and felt something wriggling and pulling very hard. It was pulling the spacecraft down into the Black Hole. Desymond and Gurgle Goo were getting really excited and just a bit frightened.
"It must be a whopper!" said Desymond.
For nearly ten minutes Gurgle Goo pulled and pulled and they still had seen nothing at all.
Then they saw it coming out of the Black Hole. It was a prize startrout! It was all silver and flashing with glittery markings along its side. It flew about all over the place but Gurgle Goo just managed to hang on. There was a great struggle and eventually Desymond managed to get a spacenet under the startrout and lift it into the spacecraft. The startrout jumped about everywhere but it was soon still as it could not breathe the air inside the spacecraft.
Desymond decided that it might be better to set off back toScarborough as they were starting to get a bit low on fuel. So off they went.
Back to earth. Back to England. Back to Scarborough.
Because Scarborough is best.
They parked the spacecraft at the Castle Spaceship Park. Gurgle Goo could not wait to get home to Mitzy and show her what they had caught.
"What a beauty!" said Mitzy. "I'll grill it straight away and we can have a few planetary mushrooms with it and a bit of celestial bacon. Then we can all have some for supper!"
And they did and it was lovely!
