Milk delivery boy
Born 1997, F, from Zagazig, EgyptAt the top of a greeny hill, there was a big old house. Despite of its royal structure, no one had the desire or courage to step in front of it among the villagers lived down the hill.
Stories about its owner varied from a ghost to a witch and no one could see the real owner living inside.
None of the villagers except for one had the courage to visit the ghost house, the milk delivery boy.
He always started his work at five visiting every doorstep and ending his round with the ghost house gate which was always closed.
Although his visit was very short, the owner of the ghost house always waited for it everyday behind one of the house windows. He could feel warm watching him delivering the milk, humming in front of the gate then riding his bicycle back down the hill.
One night, the owner had that idea inside his head; he wanted to know if the milk delivery boy would like to be his only friend, and decided to give him two tests to know if he deserved his friendship.
On the next dawn, the owner made sure to leave the front old gate open to watch what the delivery boy would do.
Would he have the courage to step more few steps inside that scary house?
When it was time for him to arrive, the owner's heart was so excited and a little worried that the boy would get scared and never come back; he didn't want to be left alone again.
The milk delivery boy arrived on time to see the old gate which should have been closed as long as he remembered open. He walked from his bicycle few steps inside looking around for something or someone then came back to his bicycle.
He brought the milk and walked towards the front door inside, placed the milk down at the doorstep and picked up the empty bottle and went back to his bike and left as he used to.
The next day was the same but there was a little different that time; there was a tempting candy on the door and nothing else.
The boy got tempted by the candy that he picked it up and kept his eyes on it for a minute then he put it back to finish up his job.
The owner felt angry.
'' Why didn't he take it with him?''
The owner then thought;
'' Maybe it wasn't tempting enough.''
For that, he prepared another bigger and more delicious candy and put it in stead of the old one but the owner was shocked as the boy didn't give it any further attention.
The owner kept watching the boy for a month with no actual response then he decided to face the milk delivery boy and ask him about the reason.
When the boy showed up on the way up the hill, the owner walked down the stairs and waited his arrival to open the door.
After few minutes, the owner could hear the sound of his steps on the other side of the door, so the owner put all his anger on the handle and suddenly opened the door that the boy freaked out.
There, he could finally see the owner of the ghost house who was no one but an old aged lady with a countess aureole and ocean like eyes. When he realized he was in front of her, the owner asked;
'' Why don't you take the candy?''
He looked at the candy while answering;
'' Because it isn't mine and there was no note saying that
You want to give it to me.''
The old owner looked at him with a warm smile and handled him the candy saying;
''I will write a note the next time.''
The boy smiled back and rode his bicycle while she was watching him leaving her house.
On the next morning, the boy reached the house to find a big note on a basket filled of candies said:
'' Let's be friends!''
The boy put the basket on his bike, waved to the old lady and went back home.
