The Keeper
Born 1976, M, from Whitechapel, AustraliaThe Keeper snatches with dead fingers,
The fish are naught but gentle prey,
And poisoned clouds obscure and linger,
As will dissolves ‘neath acid spray.
A once red heart choked by ink,
Bloodstream slowed by rocks and sand,
A mouth no longer fit to drink,
And flesh recoils from absent hand.
Eyes that see but can’t discern,
Stomach bashed by waves of bile,
Needed lessons yet unlearned,
And feet from self should run a mile.
Ugly things lurk in the gloam,
A twisted tide waits in the wings,
And hideous legions spit their foam,
At Sirens that would dare to sing.
