Delicious Day

It was a cold day on the day I had the most fantastical idea ever conceived. I was the oldest sister of six, so it was my charge to invent new ways to entertain myself. I liked to enforce the idea I was to be an unquestioned leader. This led to many interesting days during the long days of winter break. It was fun to see how far I could push the envelope. When I manipulated my younger siblings to bend to my desires it buoyed my confidence. It is the penance for leaving me to discover life first, and being blamed for mischievous acts that were not my doing. These things were blamed on me due to the simple fact that I was born first, therefore I was responsible for their misdoing. If this was to be my reality and I was to accept this no matter how I felt about it, I was going to find a way to bend it to my pleasures.
I was downstairs watching TV- boring! - when the idea came to me. I immediately turned off the TV and put my plan into action. I was left to watch my younger sister that day- as usual. When ever the adults wanted to do what they wanted I was immediately incorporated as the free babysitter at their will. Smiling at a picture which entered my mind of the plan in action, I reached my younger sisters room. She looked up from playing with her dolls, so innocent and gullible. She looked to me for guidance and love but I saw this as a choice to be naive, which's not what older sisters were for. They were destined to be only children and the children that followed were destined to be their playthings.
I smiled sweetly at her as I came to sit next to her. Because it was a frigid day it was too cold to play outside. I had come up with a way to entertain myself inside.
"Hey, Holly. Would you like to play a game?" I brushed her tangled hair away from her face; she looked up at me and beamed.
"Yeah, watchya wanna do?" She asked eagerly, rejoicing in my acceptance.
"You know how you are always the first to be found whenever we play hide and seek?"
"hmmhm" She said nodding in agreement. What other choice did she have?
"Well, I have come up with a plan so that cannot happen. Let's try out hiding spaces that will be unattainable."
"Unattainable?"
"yes, it means no one will be able to find you." I said tightly. I was eager to get on with the games. I led her downstairs and into the laundry room. We tried a space underneath the stairs and I made a mental note about this spot which actually would be a good one.
I led her deeper into the laundry room in front of the washer and dryer.
"I bet you would fit in the dryer!"
"umm I dunno." She said uneasily, I was losing her trust.
"I would go in first but I wouldn't fit" I knew how much she would like the idea of being able to do something I couldn't. She smiled, comforted by the thought.
"You're gonna turn it on."
"No darling I would never. Here, when you get in you can leave one leg out if you don't trust me. That way I can't turn it on." It took such little coaxing. How wonderful! I almost started laughing before it was time. My heart raced with anticipation. She slowly climbed in, weary, having been burned by me before. Now I wished I had saved all those moments for this one. She left her leg out just as I had told her, This is when I moved in quickly, shoving her in against her will. I slammed the door shut and stood in front of it so that she could not open it. I turned it on and listened to the hard rumbling that came from within. She was small so she wouldn't be hurt… too bad, at least nothing you could see to have proof of later. I laughed loud and hard now, what fun this was. This is what big sisters are for. She couldn't go through life being so trusting, she would end up getting hurt far worse the anything I could do to her. I was really teaching her a lesson. She was the type that learned hands on, she wouldn't understand unless you showed her repeatedly, although I doubt this was a lesson she would need to be taught again because she probably wouldn't let me do it again. Too bad, this was so much fun! I should probably let her out now. She was shaken but not crying, she ran away from me back upstairs to continue with her dolls, she never told on me. What a delicious day.
