A Good Deed
Joy, a ten years boy who
was playing on the grass in a bushy garden after coming to school. He enjoyed the chirping birds, colourful butterflies, and two squirrels playing on the coconut trees. It was their own free kingdom, and Joy felt like an outsider. He decided to give them space to enjoy freely.
Feeling the hot sun, Joy covered his eyes with his soft palms. Though he had showered by heating, he laid on the grass, feeling like sunbathing on a greeny beach. He loved nature and thought about his class teacher Miss Shyla's homework assignment.
Joy was always ready to help others, whether animals or humans. He thought of keeping water in a drum for watering the birds and animals but decided to apply it the next day due to his mother's disapproval. She always suggested him to take a short nap at noon.
Joy stretched out his hands and felt the tiny eyes of a squirrel upon him, allowing the animals to live as they wished. He fed the squirrels some crazy biscuits upon seeing a big rat, before silently moving and running towards the holes in search of it. Ultimately, he failed to find the rat.
As he enjoyed the greeny beach and the sight of the blue sky, he couldn't help but thought, "What a wonderful and blessed world it is! "
Suddenly, a tiny bird plummeted to the ground before his eyes. Being a passionate animal lover, he couldn't bear to see the little creature suffer. He remembered his teacher's advice to do a good deed every day, and he decided to take care of the bird.
He picked up the bird and rushed to his room, where he found some cold ice in the refrigerator and sprinkled water on the bird. His mother scolded him for wasting his time and reminded him to take a nap at noon, but he persisted in caring for the bird. As he worked, he remembered how his grandfather's head had spun before he died, and how his mother had used cold water to revive him. He felt a strange connection between his grandfather's experience and the bird's plight.
The bird woke up and flew close to its mom after being given water.
Then the boy declared that he had done a good job for the day, as his teacher, miss shyla had instructed in the class, and finally, Joy could followed a good deed for that day.
At last, the bird stirred and flew up to his mother, who was watching from a distance. Overjoyed by the boy's kindness, his mother and his teacher praised him for his good deed. The boy smiled, feeling proud of himself and knowing that he had done something good in the world.
As the sun began to set and the boy made his way back home, he felt a sense of peace and contentment. He knew that he had made a difference in the world, however small, and that he had contributed to the well-being of a living creature.
He looked up at the sky, feeling grateful for the beauty of the world and the goodness in people's hearts.
