A Witches Game
Born 1996, F, from Abbotsford, BC, CanadaMonica opened the door to the dark room. The flame on the candle she held bent from the small gust of wind. Inside, an upperclassman sat there with a bowl of water in front of her.
“Please, enter.” The girl said with a chilling voice. Monica came in and sat down at the desk.
“I assume you wish for your fortune to be told?” The girl said. Monica gulped and nodded. She then handed the candle to the upperclassman. The girl took the candle, and poured the wax into the bowl of water. The wax took form as soon as it hit the cold, glistening water. Its shape was that of a piano.
“You will die in four days. Four times will you hear 'Pavane', and when the last note is struck your soul will be taken by the dead.” Monica reeled back and screamed. The lights flickered on, and the upperclassman was laughing.
“Calm down, calm down. It's only a game!” She chuckled. Monica stood up and bowed before leaving. That night, she dreamed of a piano. 'Pavane' was playing on it, but no one was near the piano. When the song ended, Monica walked up to the piano and pressed a key. No sound came from the piano. She then bolted upright in her bed, sweat dripping from her face. A whisper entered her mind. “Three more times.”
After school the next morning, Monica went to a restaurant with her friends, and when they entered in, 'Pavane' was playing on the radio. A little scared, Monica made an excuse to leave. When she got to the door, 'Two more times' was etched into the wood. The next morning, Monica received a card, and after she opened it, the tune of 'Pavane' played, and 'One more time' was written inside. Terrified, she ran from her house into the woods. Monica stayed there until the next night. She waited, but no sound came. Relieved, she started heading back home. Then, the lonesome song, 'Pavane', echoed through the ghostly woods. Monica looked up and saw a piano silhouette in the moon. A scream, muffled by the trees and taken by the wind, went unheard from within the forest. No one ever saw Monica again.
Keiko opened the door to the dark room. The flame on the candle she held bent from the small gust of wind. Inside, an upperclassman sat there with a bowl of water in front of her.
“Please enter, and remember, it's just a game.” The girl giggled.
