A Cosmic Duel: Secondary Big Bang Theory

They were the last two of their kind, the ancient beings that existed before time and space. They had witnessed the birth and death of countless worlds, and had grown bored of their eternal existence. They decided to play a game, a game of skill and strategy, a game that would determine their fate.
They created a board, a five-dimensional board that spanned the entire void. They chose the elements of matter as their pieces, and arranged them in complex patterns and formations. They took turns to move their pieces, following the rules they had agreed upon using their powers to manipulate the forces of nature, to create, destroy, attack and defend.
The game lasted for eons, and neither of them could gain an advantage. They matched each other’s moves, anticipating and countering every possible strategy. Until at last they reached a stalemate, where neither of them could win or lose, realizing that they had exhausted all the possibilities, and that there was no way to break the deadlock.

They stared at each other, across the board that was filled with their pieces. They created a surge of frustration and anger, admiration and respect for each other’s abilities. They had met their equal, their rival, their partner, but found the only thing that could challenge them, the only thing that could make them feel alive.

They decided to end the game and their existence. They agreed to make one final move, a move that would destroy the board and themselves. They gathered all their energy, and unleashed it in a single calamity of energy that created a massive explosion, a shockwave that shattered the board and the pieces which in turn gathered a singularity, a point of infinite density and temperature, that swallowed them and everything else.

They created the Big Bang, the origin of the universe, matter and energy, space and time, the laws and constants, that would shape the new reality. They created the potential for life, diversity and complexity. Evolution. The possibility for new beings, new games, new stories. An ultimate sub-creation, the ultimate secondary world. They became the true creators. They became one.

Wonderful science fiction story. This one deserves a movie to be honest. Well done.

What a great story. You could publish this in a Sfi-Fi publication. A nice look at how one univerise ended making a new one. A well earned Short Story Star of the Day!
