TICK-TOCK
Born 1990, M, from Blantyre, MalawiTICK-TOCK
By Mike Kaupembe
Tick-tock, tick-tock, the seconds slip away
On this lonely road, where darkness holds its sway
I sit, wait, and contemplate, with heart full of pain
Longing for a guiding light, to lead me through the rain
Tick-tock, tick-tock, the minutes turn to years
In this solitary confinement, through laughter and tears
I sit, wait, and contemplate, with a soul so worn and weak
Yearning for a glimmer of hope, a chance to seek
Tick-tock, tick-tock, alongside this pool of hope
I cling to the corner of misery, my heart a heavy scope
Wasting away, unnoticed, and ridiculed, I remain
Watching heaven or hell, waiting for my angel to reign
