Sewing with Nana
Born 1957, F, from Ft Walton Beach, FL, United StatesI have designed and made clothing and house hold goods since I was 12 years old. The true pleasure was attained when I was able to show my grand daughter Hailey my love of sewing, and arts and crafts. When she was a baby, she sat on my lap, intently watching every move I made. Hailey is now 7 1/2 years old and enjoys sewing and arts and crafts as much as I do. One afternoon, we were doing a project. She often enjoys calling out the names of the contents of my sewing box. As she held several thimbles in her hands, a smile came across her sweet face. She said, "Nana, a thimble goes on your thumb to protect your thumb from the pressure of the needle. It should be called a THUMBLE, not a THIMBLE!" We both sat and laughed, as we embraced. Since that day, when ever we take out the box, and partake of a project, we both now call a THIMBLE, a THUMBLE!!
