Betrayal

Betrayal is a reaper. It waits until you plant seeds before making its move. Sometimes it kills before your gardens can become green. Other times it releases a poison that slowly breaks down your crops. But most of the time, it tugs out faith by the root, inflicting maximum pain upon its victim. It hits you, over and over again, in an abundance of karma. When your field is completely destroyed, it lingers over your house, like a dark mist, impossible to see or break through. The only thing it cannot stop is the brightest of lights, and the purest of intentions. Yes, sometimes this light will also dim, but if tended to daily, will never fade. The light will bring life to your plants one more time. However, just when most people decide to trust again, they are crushed by a wave of betrayal. Those who are weak will be unable to resist it's lies without support. The strong will be able to hold their breath long enough, but in return will be greatly weakened. They too need the help of others. Then there are those which have no knowledge of the word 'friend'. These are the ones who will take the hit, but feel nothing because half their soul has already been drowned. When this happens, they no longer hide their own doom, and embrace it instead, pushing everyone away and hurting anyone that makes contact. I call these people 'Peasant(s) of the Reaper' or 'Host(s) of Betrayal'. Common terms for this title are 'Liar', 'Backstabber', and 'Traitor'. Their halls and meadows become weed infested, and they feed on your heart and soul. All that remains is a vessel, awaiting to be filled, but never will be. The only feelings capable of reaching such a person are feelings of hate, pain, sin, and loneliness, and all of these become paranoid delusions of their twisted life. The only place in which these are stored is the mind, making it grow dark. All day long, the Peasants of the Reaper wait for death. .......All day long, the Hosts of Betrayal wish for death. They are unable to do so themselves because they hear the call of their master. In time though, the betrayer will also become....the betrayed.
