Honoured Shah Shamis Tabraiz and Moulana Roomi

”What is this?”

It was told by our scholars and thinkers that Shah Shamis Tabraiz was on his trail with God somewhere in the jungle. He came back to Baghdad City and asked the people where he might find a dignified man of the city !!!!

The people told him that a dignified man in the city was Moulana Roomi. So he came to Moulana Roomi and Roomi was sitting with his very precious and costly books.

Shah Shamis Tabraiz asked, “What is this?”

Roomi told Shah Shamis Tabraiz that these are my very precious and high cadre books, these are the assets of my life. I reached here (Dignity) by the help of these books.

Shah Shamis Tabraiz looked at him and asked as to what was in the books. Roomi replied, "O! Sufi. This contains knowledge that is beyond your understanding so you continue to read your rosary (tasbih)."

Unnoticed by Roomi, Shah Shamis Tabraiz threw all the books into the pond of water. When Maulana Rumi's students saw what occurred they began beating Shah Shamis Tabraiz. This, and the screams of Tabraiz, alerted Maulana Roomi as to what occurred.

He lamented that all his valuable knowledge had been destroyed.

Tabrez said; "Tell your pupils to leave me alone and I will give back your books." A visibly dejected Roomi conceded to the request thinking that this was impossible. He was surprised to see Shah Shamis Tabraiz recite bismillah, lift the drenched books from the pond, blow dust off them and return them to him intact.

He asked Shah Shamis Tabraiz as to how he did this. Hazrat Shams Tabrez (raz) replied, "This knowledge is beyond your understanding so you continue to teach your pupils."

Maulana Jalalluddin Rumi (Roomi) fell at his feet and was swept into the currents of love. The presence of this ragged Sufi, Shah Shamis Tabraiz, changed Roomi from a respected professor of theology into a lover of God, one who summed up his whole life with the phrase, "I burnt, and I burnt, and I burnt."

After that Roomi wrote his all poetry on Shah Shamis Tabraiz and his traits and qualities !!!!!!!!!!! He was a great peer to Moulana Roomi. And in turn Moulana Roomi was a great peer and teacher to Iqbal, Lahorie, the poet of the East !!!!!!

“So Islamic history is full of certain type of heroes.”
