Wise Old Man in Hospital Bed(Dorsey Baker) After being sedated for an hour or two-the old man awoke-The two nurses that were assigned to him were standing at the foot of the hospital bed. One was an older woman, and the other was a younger woman. "Magnificent! Magnificent!" the old man shouted. His voice had a distinctive tone to it. The old mans' face was an array of expressions; his eyes straining through huge bi-focal glasses. The two nurses' backs were facing him at the foot of the hospital bed; their backsides seemingly flat as the charts they were reading. "Magnificent! Magnificent!" the old man shouted again. The older nurse didn't seem to be afraid of the youth of the younger nurse and the younger nurse did not seem to be intimidated by the knowledge of the older nurse. Both of them seemed secure in themselves. This might have been a competitive setting; if the nurses were not comfortable in themselves! Their relationship you don't find much in today's competitive world. The old man trembling sat up on one elbow to get a better look! "Magnificent! Magnificent!" he shouted. His weak voice becoming stronger and louder! The two nurses looked at each other and smiled because they now understood. Their beautiful relationship! That's what the old man was shouting about.
