Summer Wind
Born 1998, F, from CA, United StatesTina woke up from her deep sleep. The sunlight was shining on her face, the birds were chirping, and the feel of a cool Colorado summer day filled her room. She yawned, then sat up in bed, ready to put her slippers on, when the sound of voices downstairs ruined the heavenly moment she was having. She got up out of bed, and stepped out of her room, around the corner, stood next to the staircase and looked down to see her mother closing the front door. ''Goodbye!'' Her mother shouted as she closed the front door. Then her mother looked up to see Tina staring at her like she had just seen a ghost or something. ''Oh. good morning honey!'' she shouted. Then she walked up the staircase to Tina and gave her a big motherly hug. ''Did you get your beauty sleep?'' she asked. Tina just sat there dumb-founded. ''Mom, who was that?'' Tina asked. ''Oh, that was Stacey...you know, our neighbor." Replied Anna, her mom. ''Oh...what was she doing here so early?" asked Tina. There was a pause..."Well...we were just saying...huh...how do i out this..." Anna took Tina by the hand, and started walking her to the dining room downstairs. She sat down in the pink, flowery couch, sitting Tina next to her, and put her hand around Tina's hand, and held it tightly. "Honey...last night...in California." Whispered Anna. "Well, what about it?" asked Tina. ''I found this place for us last night in the penny-saver.'' "What?!" shouted Tina. "You said we were moving in a little while, meaning two months, not right away!!" Tina was furious. It was hard enough living a life as a freshman at the age of forteen. But Tina understood how her mom felt right now. She was depressed and wanting to get out of the house and into a new one as soon as possible. Ever since dad died, things had been different. "Honey, I know, but it's just for the best for us right now. And it's a really good price. I just wanna..." But before she could even finish saying her sentence, Tina interrupted her. "I knew I couldn't trust you! You always do stuff like this to me! I hate you! She ran up the stairs and into her room, and slammed the door behind her.
Anna ran her hands through her hair, stressed out, then got up from the couch and started chasing after Tina. "Tina baby, please! you just don't understand!" There was a great silence. Tina didn't want to answer her mom. She was filled with lots of anger and fustration. It seemed that Anna stood at Tina's bedroom door just talking to herself because Tina just seemed to zone her out. Anna was talking when all of a sudden she stopped in the middle of her sentence and there was a silence. Tina could hear her mom walk away slowly. Then Tina started to feel bad for how she had acted towards her mom, so she decided to open her bedroom door, and walked out. Anna wasn't anywhere in sight. The house was quiet for a few seconds when she heard a mourning sound. She followed it, which seemed to lead into her mom's bedroom. Her mom was lying on the floor in pain. "MOM!" shouted Tina. "Oh gosh, what's wrong?!" Anna could hardly talk. She was short of breath and her face was pale. "It's...my...." Anna took a deep breath then seemed to stuggle to get a sentence out. "My heart!" Tina's eyes filled with tears. She grabbed her cell-phone and dialed -911- for help. Her hands were shaking, not knowing what to do. "Stay here mom, i'm going to get you a cold cloth!" Tina left the room to get a cold wash-cloth for her mom. When she got back, her mom was just lying there...eyes closed. Tina dropped the cloth in her hands, and her phone. "MOM! shouted Tina. don't do this to me! please! I didn't mean the words i said, and i didn't mean to yell at you!"
Three years had passed since Anna's death. Tina was seventeen years old. She lived in an orphanage in the middle of Colorado where all the other girls who were in the same situation as she was lived. It was a warm, summer day. Today was the third anniversary of the death of her mom. Tina walked outside, hoping nobody would see her, and looked up at the sky. She inhaled a deep breath and whispered, "love you mom". The wind blew for the first time all summer, and sent chills up Tina's spine. She smiled, then whispered in a tearful voice, "miss ya too mom, miss ya too." :)
