WE ALWAYS CATCH OUR CROOKS
Born 1969, F, from Miami, United StatesTHE WE ALWAYS CATCH OUR CROOKS CLUB
Two weeks ago Cookie’s grandmother brought her a new shining bike for her birthday. And a day later it was stolen. Now Cookie and her friends at the we always catch our crooks club are on the case. To find out who stole Cookie’s bike just sit back and enjoy the story.
I can’t believe that it's been a week and the cops still haven’t found my bike, Cookie sighed.
I guess they don’t know what a bummer it is for a kid to lose their bike, Sammy the turtle answered her.
Yah especially one you didn’t even get to ride, Cookie added.
What did the cops tell your mom? Daisy the penguin asked.
They said that I‘d probably never see it again, there’s a gang of bike thieves in the area. Mine was the sixth bike that was reported stolen in the last two weeks, Cookie explained.
Oh wow! That’s scary Daisy answered.
But I was thinking if the cops can’t find my bike we will! She cried out happily.
Cooks are you nuts? what makes you think that we can find your bike when the cops can’t? Tommy the tiger cub frowned.
My point exactly, they don’t have the time to look for it but we do. I don’t think any kids bike will be safe if we don’t do something bout it Cookie frowned.
Yah but still we don’t know where to start. maybe we should hire a private detective or some thing like that, Vicky the dragonfly shrugged.
Oh yah right, like we could afford some one like that, Tommy smirked.
Well I know of one that we can afford, Cookie smiled.
Yah who? Sammy asked.
You! Cookie laughed.
Me?
Yep. not only you Sammy, but all of us!
Umm, Cookie have you been sniffing catnip or some thing? Sammy frowned.
No I was thinking that we could start our own detective club and help the kids in the neighborhood with their cases that the cops can’t help them with cause they are too busy with more important ones. We can call ourselves the 'we always catch our crooks club'. So what do you guys think? She asked.
And after thinking it over for a couple of minutes and asking Cookie a few more questions about it, the rest of the gang decided that it was a great idea. The next day right after breakfast they started working on their first case: How to catch the bike burglars.
Okay, me, Daisy and Vicky will take one side of the neighborhood and you guys search the other, Cookie instructed. remember to keep your eyes open and we’ll meet back here around lunch time to compare notes.
A couple hours later they were all back in Cookie’s house. So how did you guys make out? She asked the guys. did you find any thing?
Nope, the only interesting thing that happened was when Tommy got kicked in the head when he tried to break up a fight between his little brother and his friend, Sammy laughed.
That wasn’t funny dude, Tommy growled.
What were they fighting about? Vicky asked, trying not to laugh.
I don’t know, they are always fighting with each other, but I told him that if he didn’t stop being such a bonehead that I was going to tell my mom, Tommy answered.
Daisy just rolled her eyes.
What? He shrugged.
A knock on Cookie’s front door interrupted. I saw them! Daisy’s younger sister Tracy cried out as she rushed inside of her house.
You saw who? Daisy asked.
The guys who stole Cookie’s bike! Tracy yelled.
Okay Tracy calm down and tell us what you saw, Vicky added.
I was walking to the candy store when I noticed this black van that kept stopping in front of yards that only had kids bikes out in front of them. That’s when I saw one of the guys get out of the van and write down I guess it was the address in his note pad then get back in the van again.
So they’ve to be the guys that stole her bike! Tracy explained.
Did you get the license number? Tommy asked.
The what? Tracy frowned
Never mind, they’re probably still round here somewhere, Vicky answered.
Let’s hope so. come on Sammy, we’ll go check the right side of the block and you girls check out the left, Tommy instructed. They took off before the girls did. a few minutes later they spotted the van that Tracy described half way down the block.
There it is! Tommy cried out. The van was going slow enough that they had no problem catching up to it and when it parked a few blocks down Tommy told Sammy to quick write down the license plate number.
I’m going to see if I can get a closer look at them. He crept along some parked cars until he was right across from them. He could see two foxes inside the van. one of them was pointing to some bikes that were in front of a yard a couple feet away. As the other wrote down the house address then they both laughed and drove away. The boys tried to catch up but the van was going too fast.
They’re getting away! Sammy panted.
It's okay, we got the license plate. we’ll just give it to the cops and let them deal with it, Tommy answered.
Yah but what if the van is stolen? Sammy asked.
Yah you got a point. then I guess we’ll just keep following them until we find out where they are keeping the bikes at, Tommy shrugged.
They jumped inside the back of a cab that was parked by the corner and
quick followed that van.
It's the one waiting for the red light to change! Tommy cried out.
The cabbie turned around and just gave them a blank confused stare. You kids are kidding me right? He asked.
No! please, we don’t want to lose them. we’ve money if that’s what you’re worried bout! Sammy cried, taking out a big wad of bills from his pocket.
Okay kid, it's your money, but never in my ten years of driving this cab have I ever heard any one ask me to follow any car before, the cabbie shrugged as he pulled out and drove off.
Umm can you please drive a little faster, this is urgent official cop business, Tommy asked.
Is it now? The cabbie laughed.
Yah, the foxes in that van are a bunch of bike robbers and we’re following them to their hideout, Sammy added.
For a few minutes the cab followed the van until it parked into a long driveway that led to what looked like an abounded warehouse.
Okay Sammy, give him the money.
Is this enough to have you wait for us? this will only take a couple of minutes, Sammy asked, as he handed him the money.
Yah sure kid, but I don’t like the idea of you kids messing round with these crooks.
Oh don’t worry we can take care of ourselves. after all, we are junior detectives! Tommy proudly answered. we’re just going to look in the window to make sure that we’ve got the right guys.
Whatever kid, just be careful and no longer than a peek. I don’t want you kids to get hurt, the cabbie frowned.
After thanking the cabbie they quickly ran up to the warehouse window and peeked inside. And they saw the two foxes making maps and notes
of the area they covered before.
I think we should call the cops now, Sammy whispered over to Tommy.
Not yet, we need to find out where they are keeping the bikes first, he answered. Tommy looked around to the side of the warehouse and saw some stairs that probably lead to a basement. Okay I’m going to go in yell if you see them coming out.
Tommy I don’t think that is such a great idea.
But it was too late. Tommy had already sneaked away and ran towards the downstairs. And after what seemed like hours Sammy couldn’t take it any more he went out and looked for Tommy. Hey Tommy! You’re taking too long!
Shh I think I just found---, a loud crashing noise interrupted him. The basement lights suddenly snapped on. Sammy could see that Tommy was lying on the ground with a pile of bike on top of him. Sammy quickly hurried over to him and tried to help him but the sound of angry voice interrupted.
What are you kids doing down here? you shouldn’t be snooping in here, one of the foxes demanded.
Umm you're right, sorry, we’ll be leaving now, Sammy muttered.
Wait a minute, not so fast. you kids stay right there while me and my partner have a little chat, the fox growled.
So now what? Sammy whispered over to Tommy, who was bout to answer him, when one of the foxes interrupted.
My friend and I owe you kids an apology, we didn’t mean to scare you. You kids are free to go.
We’re not leaving without our friends bike! Tommy cried out.
Your friends bike? One of the foxes asked, trying to look confused.
Yah, it's right over there by the window, Tommy frowned.
Oh, I see, you think that we stole your friends bike don’t you? The other fox smirked.
Well duh! Why else Sammy frowned back.
Oh hey kids, you got it all wrong. this isn’t even our place, it belongs to a friend of ours. We had no idea. go ahead take it, and don’t worry, we’ll make sure to call the cops as soon as you leave, promise.
They both knew that they were lying, but they decided to play along. Yah okay, sounds fair enough to us, Tommy shrugged.
Great, okay Carl, help the kid with the bike, the fox told him. And as Carl slowly started to walk over towards them. Tommy looked over to Sammy and winked, but Sammy didn’t even notice. he was slowly inching away towards the stairs.
No Sammy wait! Tommy cried out.
But it was too late Sammy was already half way up.
Hey stop that kid! The fox suddenly yelled.
Tommy was about to answer him when a loud voice coming from half way down the stairs interrupted him.
Okay every one just stay right where they are!
They all turned around and saw a cop standing half way down the stairs along with Sammy and the cabbie.
Hey you kids okay? I got a little weirded out bout you kids so I placed a call to the cops over my radio. Thankfully there was a patrol car just down the block and they got here before these creeps could hurt you.
Thanks mister, Tommy smiled. he then pointed over towards Cookie’s bike and explained to the cops, they stole my friends bike, it's right over there.
Later that day they repeated their story to the news reporter and had their picture taken with the cabbie. But what they were truly proud of wasn’t what was written bout them in the paper. It was what the headlines read which was: ATTENTION ALL YOU WOULD BE CROOKS, THERE’S A NEW SHERIF IN TOWN AND THEY ALWAYS CATCH THEIR CROOKS!!
WE ALWAYS CATCH OUR CROOKS(jo)
