Under the starless sky a lone ray of light swept over the unlit streets. The once populated alleyways lay empty. the only sound was the melancholy sing song of a blackbird. “Caw-Caw” it cried, spreading its tale, but nobody heard its sorrow, its grief. I lay on my back peering upwards into a portal of blackness pushing everything out of my mind and into some faraway place where I could be alone.

My eyes flashed toward the knife in his hand, its sparkling beauty stunned me into silence. He looked like he could be an angel resting peacefully in the marshmallow clouds, but the tears on his cheeks shattered the image my mind had so desperately tried to make. I could hear the distant shouts of goblins on their journey to collect him and take him where the living have never set foot. I screamed at them, clawing at the mahogany wood, begging them to leave him be. Then came the lifeless spirits solemnly floating towards us. they wore amber cloaks of fire which burnt my eyes to ash. I sunk to the ground and cried; not the usual crying where tears run down your cheeks, no this was so much worse. It was as if my soul was being cried out onto the floor and all that was left was a limp motionless body. ..
