Faithful Rain
Born 1999, F, from Columbus, OH, United StatesFluid, fast tears fall from my eyes like rain on a mid-April day. The bright orange fire flickers, hints of tanzanite playing hide and seek with in it. The shadows of the trees dance around me, all of this tormenting me with a silent song. Thick, ominous clouds cover the sun, not wanting cheerful sunlight to fool anyone as to the negativity of this scene.
I stare at my blood-stained hands, and drop to my knees. Wicked grey eyes stare back at me, forcing the blade out of my side, wiping it off on the grass. Something wet hit my neck as I fall forward. I am dragged away, the short grass piercing my cheek like tiny daggers. As I take my final breaths, I watch the rain fall in a steady pattern. My best friend, and killer, Damien hums a dark song in which I cannot quite name, and tosses me into the fire...
The autopsy would say I simply tripped into the fire on accident, and sorrowful, pain-stricken Damien was too late. But, I didn't care. All that matters is that in my last moments I was with the only faithful friend I had, the faithful rain...
