The Kiss

The Kiss

Lisa shuddered as the cold wind whipped her face. Daylight was fading and Lisa was still a couple miles from her house outside of town. As she walked home she came across a deep ravine. She had heard the recent stories of the Kissing One, that's what people called him. He was killing young girls as they passed through the ravine after giving them a single deathly kiss, then he'd stow away their bodies in the river. Lisa thought about going around the ravine, but that would take hours. She decided to risk it and took her first step right as the last rays of daylight glittered on the falling snow. As she navigated the steep terrain a thick fog rose from the frozen river. "Strange," Lisa thought to herself, "There's usually no fog until spring." Just as she finished her thought she heard a snap from behind her. She spun around frantically scanning the hillside. "Hello?" she called out tensely. There was no answer. She laughed, "I'll be fine... I'm just psyching myself out." She turned back around to continue her decent to the river when she saw a shadowy figure coming towards her. She blinked and rubbed her eyes, the figure was gone. "My eyes must be playing tricks on me," Lisa thought to herself. Just in case she wasn't seeing things Lisa took off in a full sprint. She reached the bottom and flew across the old bridge. She started up the other side when she heard a deranged laugh coming from behind her. Lisa's heart jumped out of her chest, she was tempted to look back but knew if she did she'd be done for sure. She reached the top and continued running until she reached her home. She burst through the door and frantically bolted the locks behind her. She crept to the window and peered out but didn't see anything. The snow was still falling and everything was where it was supposed to be. She laughed to herself, "Ha, I must have imagined the whole thing! I was never in any danger!" She stood up and turned around, her heart stopped. There, not three feet away, was a man. He grinned and asked "Want a kiss?" Lisa screamed only to be silenced by a pair of cold lips.
