The Test

I was walking through a dark hallway. It was pitch black, I couldn't see anything. I was holding a candle, but there was no flame. It felt like I was walking for a vary long time, but I couldn't tell. I couldn't see the days passing, or the sun moving. I couldn't see anything. Finally, I heard a voice, "Do you believe in me?"

I didn't know what to say, when I tried to talk no words came out. In my head I said yes. "Yes! I do!"

There was a spark at the end of my candle, it slowly grew into a flame. All I saw around me was two dark walls, a damp muddy floor, and no ceiling just blackness. "Where am I?"

There was no answer. I kept walking, when I got tired I slept, when I got hungry however, there was no food around me. I would continue to be hungry, until I slept, because when I woke up I was full.

A long time passed. I suddenly approached a big figure standing in my way. I kindly asked it move. The figure continued to stand there.
"Aren't you tired of walking?" I didn't answer. "Wouldn't you rather taste food and rest in a bed?"

The figure opened a door on one of the walls. Inside I saw children running and playing, there was food on a plate, a great big turkey, mashed potatoes, all sorts of vegetables and bread and butter. I also saw a bed big enough for an elephant, that looked like it would just sink in around you and engulf you with coziness. The voice came back, and said one word,
"No."

So I listened, I closed the door and ran past the figure. I kept running until I saw at least fifty huge, demon-like creatures running at me. When I turned to run I heard the voice.
"Stand your ground, they can't hurt you."
I turned around and faced them. The creatures got closer every second. I closed my eyes, and braced for impact. When I opened them, I saw a colossal face with two pin-hole eyes, and a mouth as big as my head, wide open about to snatch my head right off.
"You can't hurt me." I whispered. All of the creatures turned to dust.

I kept running, my light guided me through the dark hallway. I ran past many prisoners, they were all on fire. Some were screaming, some were crying and some were just laying on the floor of their cell. They all began to shout things at me, like
"Turn back!"
"Why are you even trying?!"
"Don't keep going!"

I ran faster. I gained so much speed, that I crashed into something directly in the path. It was a dead end. I got off the floor and looked all around the narrow passage. I saw a wall to my left, a wall to my right and a wall in front of me. When I turned to go back, I saw another wall, slowly closing in on me. The last thing I remember was being squeezed up against the two walls.

When I woke up, I saw a man with a white mustache and a grayish-white goatee.

"You passed the test."

I woke up, and I was home. I never knew my home until now. I hadn't seen it before, but I knew this was it.
