The Bony Spectre

The Bony Spectrum

The cold was beginning to feel stronger, when the blackness of the night began to fall and the beautiful autumn moon shone in its entire splendor. Trees and leaves danced to the whistling wind blowing very strongly in that moonlit night that gave an image between magic in Polk Street of the popular city of Brownsville. In the corner of the street, lived two beautiful girls, Amyl and Vivian were their names. Outside the house the wind kept blowing in a macabre way, it seemed to foreshadow what was about to happen. Inside their home the two girls played and played, ignoring their parents who were tired of working. Their parents asked them to go to bathe and brush their teeth so they could get ready for bed since they had to go to school early in the morning.

"We will not bathe or brush our teeth today!" "We're tired of obeying your stupid rules and so we will ignore them." Vivian and Amyl, responded to their poor parents. In a rude manner they slammed shut the door with a loud bang into the room.

It was dawn and there was an icy silence in the house before they heard the scary wind mourn outside the house of the girls. Suddenly, in Amyl and Vivian bedroom, they heard a slow, soft and mysterious, screeching when, oh! God! The door suddenly started to open. The squeaking of the door seemed to tremble and mourn, when they saw a shadow that looked like a bony spectre dressed all in black. Amyl, terrified, started yelling at Vivian. "Vivian! Vivian! Wake up please! Look what just came into our room, please look!" Vivian replied, almost crying, “Yes I know, I saw it, that’s why I have the blanket on my face, so I don’t have to see it." (Vivian burst into tears) "You see Amyl, he’s here for us because we were being disobedient to our parents." "God please let this be all a bad dream and we wake up!" The bony spectre, dressed in black leaves, started getting closer, and closer. "Please don’t let it hurt us, please!" When the bony spectre was almost about to touch them so they would see his bony face so he could frighten them, Amyl and Vivian shouted so loud because of the fright, that THEY woke up and also woke up their parents.

Indeed it was a horrible nightmare Amyl and Vivian had when they went to sleep that night. That was a lesson that life gave them, because they were being a pair of disobedient, rude girls to their good, caring and loving parents that only wanted the best for them.

The next day Amyl and Vivian both woke up, scared and repentant for their bad behavior. They went to give their parents a kiss and hug.

Since then they do their homework, eat vegetables, brush their teeth and bathe before going to sleep without their parents having to tell them what they have to do. They no longer disobey their parents, not even in their thoughts. Maybe it’s because they do not want the bony spectre to visit them again and finish his job...
