Lake
Born 1987, M, from Johnstown, Ohio, United StatesLake
Stephen plunged into the secluded lake. It felt cool, refreshing. He was glad to be alone. He looked around the bottom of the lake with his twenty-twenty underwater vision. One time he had found a coin on the bottom of a lake, but this time what he found was much more shocking. On the bottom of the lake, sitting on a rock, was the body of a boy. His lifeless eyes stared, his arms hung loosely at his side, swaying in the current. The dead boy’s skin was blue with decomposition, shorts his only clothing. Stephen got on his knees in front of the boy and looked him over. He looked calm, as if he had been sitting, thinking, and just drowned. The thing that Stephen couldn’t figure is how the boy was sitting upright, he wasn’t leaning against anything. Stephen started to feel the helplessness of being out of air. He began to rocket to the surface, but he didn’t make it. A cold, skeletal hand grabbed his ankle. He looked down in shock, bubbles spewing from his mouth. The eyes of the dead boy looked into his, and he reached out with the other arm and pulled Stephen further down.
Sarah dove into the lake. She couldn’t believe her luck, a lake, big enough to swim in, with clear, clean water, and it was in the middle of a shady forest. Suddenly, on the bottom of the far side of the lake she saw what looked like two boys sitting on large rocks, two dead boys. She had to go check it out.
