A flood occurs when too much rain falls. Storms can also cause floods. A flood is a great flowing of water or overflowing of water onto land that is usually not under water.
Ankobra is the name of a river in the Wester Region of Ghana. The name of the village is Sawoma, which was named by Kaku Aka. It was small and people got fish from the river when it was clean. The river Ankobra is very dangerous and harmful to you if you don't know how to swim. The river is green when it is clean and brown when it is polluted.
On September 6th, 2015 we slept and woke up and saw that the village was flooded. There was no place to pass. It had rained in the night when we were sleeping, but some people did not sleep because the rain ruined and spoiled many things. When you visit Ankobra it is divided in three main parts. The areas beside the sea shore and the river and the rest in the new sight.
Those who were staying directly at the shore were making noise - shouting: "We need aid ooooo!! assist us oo!! we are dying!" Some people began running and leaving things aside. This is how it began and ended by ruining things.
Soon the Minister of Ellembelle (our district) came and assisted by giving many things as gift to the community. TV stations came, made researches, interviewed the village or community members and also made recordings.
The Ankobra you see is prodigious _ people from cosmopolitan areas and other countries travel to see the river Ankobra for an excursion. Ankobra is a very attractive place. So when a flood occurs like that people were affected by diseases and seizure. It brought rubbish and improper human expose from the dump.

05/27/2018I agree with what Jd said, but not only about making it more personal, but to share your history too. A lot of us have never been to your part of the world, nor are we familiar with your culture. I , for one, would love to know more about who named the river, who is Kaku Aka, and what do the names mean? As Julie said: A good first try.
Smiles, Kevin
Help Us Understand What's Happening

05/26/2018That sounds like a difficult experience to go through, Sebastian. It is a true story, but you write it as though it happened to someone else, not to you, because it seems a bit impersonal, rather than personal. I would have liked for you to write more about your own experience and how it felt for you to be in that situation. If you and your family and friends were adversely affected I would like to read about how. That would help me as a reader to better connect to the story and to you as the storyteller, who experienced the flood first hand. It would help me to better understand what you went through and how it changed you. This story is a good first effort, but next time you write I hope you will try to make it even more descriptive and personal, from your own experience. Thanks for sharing your story. I hope that you and your people have recovered from the flood.
