Hidden treasure
Born 2008, M, from Portland,Oregon, United States“Mom, wake up!” I whispered to my mom who was sleeping. “What do you want Jack?” said my mom, half awake, half asleep still.
“What do I eat?” I asked.
“Just eat cereal,” whined my mom who was still really tired.
I walked downstairs and opened a cereal box. I dumped the cereal box and found out that someone put a map in the box! I looked at the map and I first thought it was just a plain old toy map, but then I saw a “x” on the map and it began to glow. I went to the stairs to see if my mom was coming down the stairs. I didn’t see my mom coming down the stairs.
“Lazy bum,” I muttered, then shouted to my mom, “Hey, I’m going to my friends house to talk!” Upstairs in the master bedroom, there is snoring, “snore, snore,” my mom snored. “Wake up,” whispered a mysterious voice.
“AAHH!” my mom shouted “what do you want?” Suddenly the mysterious being grabbed her and ran away.
Back at my friend’s house, “Dude, you should see this awesome map I found in my cereal box! It’s amazing!” I exclaimed excitedly.
“Whoa, I think we should follow it,” my friend, Jonathan, said with pride, “I hope it will really bring us to actual treasure, not some rocks sprayed with gold spray paint.”
“I agree, I don’t want to waste my time on this if it isn’t real.” I said.
“Oh it is gonna be real,” Jonathan said. We went to his room and sat in front of the computer. He started typing something I didn’t understand but I let him do his stuff as long as he shows it to me. “See this, I need to take a picture and then upload it into my computer, then I will be able to track the maps location so we could follow it, ok?” asked Jonathan.
“Ok.” I answered still completely dumbfounded.
“Should we start tracking it down?” he asked again.
“Sure.” I answered him back again. We started packing to find the hidden treasure. “Whoa, where did you get that thing?” I asked pointing at a shiny sword.
“Oh, I got that at this garage sale.” he said. We walked downstairs and were about to go to the front door when, “where do you kids think you are going?” shouted Jonathan’s mom after them. I answered her, “We’re just going over to my house.”
“Ok, have fun kids.” she called back. We ran out the door and looked down at our map. “It’s telling us to go to the right, then left, after going left a few blocks, turn right and enter the forest,” Jonathan said to himself.
We hurried off to the forest and entered like Jonathan said.
The forest ground was murky and gave us a hard time walking. “Why is the forest murky?” I asked disgusted.
“Maybe we should build a raft to sail across this yucky water.” Jonathan suggested.
“Sure,” I said agreeing to help him build a raft. Building and cutting wood was hard work but we managed to survive and finish building. We sailed across the murky water of the forest and suddenly stopped.
“Dude, why did you stop it?” I asked him.
“I stopped us because we’re here,” He answered back.
It looked beautiful. We got off the raft and started off to go and find the treasure.
“Help, help,” shouted a faraway voice. I looked up to see my mother standing on the edge of an active volcano. I also saw a mysterious being pushing my mother closer to the volcano. I ran for them and shouted behind me, “you go free my mother and I will take care of this mysterious being.” He threw me a sword and I ran as quickly as my feet could run. I jumped up and slashed at the mysterious being. He dodged quickly and grabbed his own long sword. We clashed and clashed at each other. It was hard to beat him but I managed to defeat him. My entire body hurt but I was happy.
Jonathan saved my mom and had ran away quickly to stand and stare in awe at a safe distance. I shouted after them, “I need to look at the map so I can find the treasure!”
“Okay,” he shouted back at him. He ran up with my mom toward me and gave me the map. I ran to find the spot and stopped. I stared at the map and looked back at the volcano. I shouted to my mom and Jonathan, “The map is telling me to go down into the lava.”
“What! Dude that’s crazy,” Jonathan shouted back. I looked back at the map and saw some words. It said, to gain the treasure, you must have a sacrifice. I shouted back to them, “It says to give a sacrifice.” We all looked at the mysterious being. I ran to him and unraveled his mask. I gasped. “Guys, its Bob, our neighbor,” I said, “well sorry bob, but a sacrifice must be made.” I threw him in the pit of lava, trying to prevent the tears from coming. I looked back and saw the treasure. I reached to grab the treasure and I ran with it. We returned back home and turned on the tv. My favorite tv show, “Indiana Jones, Finding the Hidden Treasure” was on!
