On The Day of Her Death
Born 1960, F, from San Antonio Texas, United StatesOn the day of her death
He didn't cry.
Everyone said,
"He doesn't care.
On the day they laid
Her to rest
He didn't cry.
Everyone said,
"He never loved Her."
On the one month anniversary of
Her death he was found
Lying next to her grave.
An empty bottle of poison
In his hand.
A note that simply read,
"I can't live without her."
This the Man
"Who didn't care."
This the Man
"Who never loved her."

11/20/2023Its hard to describe how potent this writing is. The laconic nature of the poem; short and carefully chosen prose and purposefully few on words ... created SUCH high impact. The lack of words reflected how he himself couldn't express his grief. So eloquently crafted and beautifully written.

11/20/2023What deep grief!
It reflects deep faithfulness, though. The speculation of people seems to be usually false.

11/17/2023Oh, wow Shirley, that was powerful. Loved it. I know this is fiction but in reality this happens way too often. Who are we to say how someone is feeling deep inside. Well done.
Blessings, Shelly
