Case 36 - The Red Devil
Born 1983, M, from Atlanta,Texas, United StatesCommand Officer Rachel McCabe came into the detective office. “The Red Devil is in town and will be on display Saturday at the carshow. Rebella and Susie, you will work security to make sure nothing happens to the Red Devil,” said Rachel. Rebella and Susie left the detective office.
Inspector Tina Bullet tapped Inspector J.P. Bullet on the shoulder. “What is the Red Devil?” Whispered Tina. “It is the fastest sports car ever built. It can reach speeds of one hundred and twenty miles,” whispered J.P. to Tina.
Officer Greenspan opened the door to the detective office. “J.P., there is a Mr. Roger Oglethorpe here to see you. He is in Interrogation Room Three,” said Officer Greenspan closing the door.
J.P. entered Interrogation Room Three. “Is there a problem?” asked J.P. as he was sitting down in a chair. “Parts kept coming up missing so we set up a hidden video camera. We have the suspect on video tape,” said Roger. “Who is it?” asked J.P. “Dr. Wilson Brilliant,” said Roger. “We are going to need the video tape,” said J.P. Roger handed him a flat box.
“What did Roger need?” asked Tina as J.P. came into the detective office. “They had parts that kept coming up missing so they set up a hidden camera and caught Dr. Brilliant taking the parts,” said J.P. “He does not sound too Brilliant to me,” joked Rachel. J.P. set the box on the desk. “Tina, are you ready to go pick up Dr. Brilliant?” asked J.P. Tina got up out of her chair and put her jacket on. “I’ll back you up,” said Rachel, opening a drawer and taking out her service weapon.
J.P., Tina, and Rachel went to Dr. Brilliant’s residence. Tina and Rachel drew their service revolvers. Tina got on the right side of the door and Rachel got on the left. “You girls ready?” asked J.P. as he drew his service revolver. J.P. made entry into the house. Tina and Rachel followed him in. They did a room to room search and did not find Dr. Brilliant. They put their service revolver back into the holster and looked around. “J.P., Rachel, look at this,” said Tina. “What is it?” asked Rachel. Tina showed Rachel what she had found. “He is building a replica of the Red Devil,” said Rachel. “He must be planning to steal the real Red Devil and building a replica to pull off the heist,” said J.P. “I better call Rebella,” said Rachel.
Rebella’s cell phone started ringing while her and Susie were guarding the Red Devil. “It’s Rachel,” said Rebella as she answered the phone. “Rebella, I need you and Susie to take the Red Devil for a joyride,” said Rachel. Susie noticed the confused look on Rebella’s face. “What is the matter?” asked Susie. Rebella did not answer her question. “Could you repeat that again?” asked Rebella, trying to make sure she understood Rachel’s instructions. “I want you and Susie to take the Red Devil for a joyride,” said Rachel. Rebella was still confused. “Rachel wants us to take the car for a spin,” said Rebella to Susie as she hung up her cell phone.
Rebella and Susie were going down the road in the Red Devil. “This is an awesome ride,” said Susie. “I know, let’s see what this baby can do,” said Rebella as she put her foot on the gas pedal. The car went faster and faster and Rebella was enjoying the thrill of speed.
Rebella and Susie saw the crossing gates coming down and heard a train approaching the grade crossing. Rebella was driving too fast to stop and they had to bail out of the car. The car exploded as the train hit it. Rebella was sitting beside the road watching the car burn. Susie walked over to where she was sitting. “Are you okay?” asked Susie. “I am fine, my career is another story,” said Rebella as she continued to watch the car burn.
Susie and Rebella were sitting on a bench outside the detective office at the 169th Precinct. They saw Rachel coming down the hall. “I guess this is it. I have enjoyed working with you,” said Rebella as she hugged Susie. Rachel motioned for them to go into the detective office.
Rachel sat down in her chair and motioned for Susie and Rebella to sit down. “You two did an excellent job,” said Rachel. Susie and Rebella looked at each other. “The car you wrecked was not the Red Devil. The real Red Devil will not arrive until Saturday afternoon,” said Rachel. “Oh, so the owner thought someone might try to steal it so they brought in a replica of the Red Devil and then the day of the car show they would bring the real one,” said Susie. “Very Clever,” said Rebella.
Dr. Wilson Brilliant was driving down the road listening to the radio. The local news came on the radio, with the lead story being that the Red Devil had been destroyed in a train vs. car accident. “Dang it!” shouted Wilson angrily, as his plans to steal the Red Devil had been foiled.
