Maybe it's a good time to...
F, from Florence, OR, United StatesThe world is in chaos and crisis right now.... But still....
Now may be a good time to focus on enjoying life and the good things....
Maybe... It's a good time...
to spend more quality time with loved ones
to take a walk in the park or on the beach and breathe fresh air
to tell those you love how much they mean to you
to read a book you've been meaning to read
to write a story you've wanted to tell,
to send a letter or a card to a friend or relative
to watch a good movie or catch up on a TV series you enjoy
to start a new craft project or discover a new hobby
to tackle those projects around the house left undone
to finish the things you've been procrastinating about...
to buy great stocks at pennies on the dollar
to invest in the future
to enjoy all the moments of your life to the fullest!
Now may be a good time to do all the things you've been too busy and preoccupied to do before now....
Maybe it's a good time to...(JD)

09/23/2024This is quite an inspiring read and definitely rings true for me. Also was curious, are you active on this site? I've only published my second story but I've seen you respond to other people's work too. Just wanted to say you've got a real thing for words which I for one appreciate that.

09/23/2024Thanks Josh, that's very kind of you. I do not consider myself a writer, but once in a while I like to pen a few lines and give my two cents worth. I am daily 'active' on this site because I manage/operate it, which requires my daily attention.

11/25/2022Love your poem JD. I hope people during the last couple of years found time to do some of the things you mentioned in your poem. It has been a long struggle. I for one began writing stories and will continue to do so thanks to the readers and writers who share this platform.

11/26/2022Thank you, Firdavs. Some days it is easier to be positive than others, but trying to see the good always helps to lessen the not so good.

10/11/2021I really like the positivity you want to spread during these hard times. Surely, a lot of people focus too much on the negative aspects right now which is why I really appreciate your outlook on the bright side, especially the possibility to spend quality time with your loved ones. Thanks for this enjoyable little story! :)

07/05/2021Dear JD, your enthusiasm and positivity really shines in this short yet wise verse. In fact here in Florence Italy, there were some very dark moments but I can say, myself and my family took advantage of being together and it was actually an opportunity to be close. I really like when things I read make me feel good and yours always seems to do that. Just Lovely and even though we are at the tail end of this epidemic, your words are still valid and most welcome. Thank you

07/06/2021You are so kind and generous in your comments, Shirley. Thank you so much for your kindness. I'm glad to hear the lockdown brought you and your family closer together. I'm especially glad that we are at the 'tail end' of this awful pandemic. Here is Florence, Oregon, things are all opened back up to full capacity again here and seem to be getting back to 'normal'. I wish the same for us all. Take care... :-)

05/09/2020Thank you for the uplifting suggestions of things we could all be doing and enjoying rather than dreading all of the things that we cannot engage in during this time. This writing offers a sense of appreciation for the things we have that I believe many of us are taking for granted during this quarantine.

03/28/2020Jd, I just love this because every single thing you suggested we do is in our own power to do, independent of wishfulness and intangibles. For me, positive actions are so much more comforting than prayers ever could be. Thank you. Be well. Be happy.

03/28/2020Thank you, Martha! I agree with you that positive actions are more comforting and uplifting than prayer alone can ever be. But sometimes all we can do is pray, and praying can certainly provide comfort for those who believe in the power of prayer. And positive actions combined with prayers that those positive actions we take will have maximum impact long term certainly can't hurt and can potentially help the healing process and outcome....
But I think that when you are powerless to heal someone, or prevent bad things from happening, or change the world to be as you wish it to be, prayer, for those who believe there are powers greater than themselves in the universe who might hear your prayers and potentially affect things which are beyond your control, is a positive action. :-)

03/24/2020Great Jd, In times of separation we make room for the new. But in times of desperation, we fail to make up for lost time, as fear and panic sets in. Distractions are indeed helpful, but never comforting. And the torment of fear itself doesn't comfort the weak and frail. The one thing I would also encourage your readers with is to also reflect on the spiritual significance of the event they are going through. When we are too busy we cannot hear what God is saying. Perhaps he is inviting people to come into the safety of his protection, perhaps he is warning of a greater disaster one can avoid if they respond to his grace and mercies. So we ought to watch and pray as we are nearing the end and in the Bible, one can find the answers to all human philosophies. This indeed will bring peace of heart and mind, whether you will live or die. Take care.

03/28/2020Sorry, hon. I reject that we are nearing your so-called end times. Please know that there are people (like me) who don't share your superstitions and who find enormous comfort in the 'distractions' that Jd suggested. Know this, young man - I find joy and peace in... telling someone how much they mean to me.. in writing a story... in adopting a dog... in delivering food to a neighbor... in sending a thank you/love letter to someone. On the other hand, I find proselytising and religiosity disquieting and disruptive. If you care to reflect further on my perspective on the power of the human heart, please consider reading my story on this site called "Ain't no god gonna help". Stay well and live long
